To anyone more wise in the way of statistics (probably most folks reading this), I would appreciate your help in interpreting a Test for Equal Variances in Minitab. The subject data are non-normal so I look at the Levene’s Test p-value. It is quite high (0.997) so I do not reject the null hypothesis. However, the F-Test from the same analysis results in a p-value of 0.000. I realize the F-Test is highly sensitive to non-normality, but I wouldn’t expect such a discrepancy in p-values. Furthermore, the adjacent plot indicates the standard deviation 95% confidence intervals of the two sets of data do not overlap, suggesting the null hypothesis can be rejected. Is this plot based on the F-Test? Would you accept or reject the null hypothesis?
