    What are the limitations of six sigma technique? I’m a student of Masters – Industrial Engg. and getting so much fascinating details of six sigma but  no one tells about it’s limitation. Please help me.

    Read the section in Methodologies > Six Sigma. There you’ll find a couple articles on the downside of Six Sigma — those are the limitations that you are looking for…especially the article by Carnell called Six Sigma Deployment Failures.

    It is very unlikely there is a failure during the initial start-up of the program. The true success is when the program can sustain. For this to happen the organization should work from traditional DMAIC model to IDOV – where in continual improvement will be a reality. If you hang on to DMAIC only over time the complexity of the challenges will make success more difficult.

    This is not a limitation of Six Sigma—it is indicative of a poorly implemented Control phase, which should establish the ongoing metrics and thresholds for corrective action. 
    The danger with the alternate methodology you’ve described is the tendency to tamper with the process.
