    Is accuracy check ( both Static and Dynamic ) of machines a prerequisite for conducting the machine capability analysis?

    I’m not sure what you mean by (Static, Dynamic)? Gages? Should the machined part PASS all variable and Go/No Go gages? Yes. Also check for accuracy in the parts surface finish or Ra and inspect for visual defects like burrs or tool marks that are nonconforming to the print spec’s. Vendor blacks or previous processed features should be within print spec. also.

    I prefer the machine set up to as close to the spec. ‘mean’ or nominal as possible. With a new machine that has new tooling, like drill diameters, honing stones, then I may not be able to target the mean. Cmk wont be effected but Cm may show lower value due to the spec. mean not targeted because of new tooling that’s built toward the upper size limit for wear considerations.
    I will usually do a preliminary 10 piece capability study or require machine builder to send 5 or 10 piece sample w/data before I start a formal capability analysis.

    Static and Dynamic accuracy of the machine elements. Like alignment, run out , face out of the spindle and spindle flanges, vibration, etc ….
