One can easily obtain a plot showing the factor levels and the response.  How does one obtain the actual value for the dot plotted?

Hi Chip,I am a Minitab technical support representative. Occasionally, we check this forum to see if we can be of service. If you are talking about a main effects plot or interaction plot, the best way to see the values of the plotted points is to use Stat > Basic Statistics > Store Descriptive Statistics… Enter your response for the “Variables:”. Enter one of your factors for the “By variables:”. Click OK. The values in the new MEAN1 column are the plotted values for the main effects plot for that factor and response. To get the plotted points for an interaction plot, use Stat > Basic Statistics > Store Descriptive Statistics… Enter your response for the “Variables:”. Enter 2 of your factors for the “By variables:”. Click OK. The values in the new MEANx column are the plotted values for the interaction plot for those 2 factors and response. Please give us a call at 814.231.2682, if you need help implementing this in MINITAB. We are available 9 to 5 Eastern Time, Monday through Friday. Sincerely, Cathy — Minitab’s Tech Support

Additionally to see what a point is in a graph you can right click on the graph and choose the brushing mode.  This will allow you to click on points of a graph to see what row the point is from.  Then right click again and choose Set ID Variables, Choose the box to Use Columns and fill in the column names you would like to see in the brushing window (e.g. C1 C2 C3).
If you have any questions, please post, or call Minitab’s Customer Support line.
    Thank You,
    Jeff O
