    Hello All,
As a transactional person I have to admit my ignorance on MTBF and ask for some help. I need to determine failure probability of an item with 100,000 hour MTBF. i.e. what is the probability of failure at a given time. Also, if I have 100 of these items can I produce a Weibull cumulative distribution from this?
    Thanks in advance

    MBB,
Yeah, I did not know much about relaibility analysis going into my MBB role.  If you have Minitab and 100 sets of data, try distribution fitting in Minitab first: stat>reliability/survival>.  You can also do some on or two factor regressions to see what affects MTBF.
Dont assume Weibull pdf although it often give the best fit of your data.

ps – as a MBB, maybe the discussion forum expected you to do more exhaustive research (like open Minitab – Help) before asking us for help.

    Thanks Carl.
I actually checked Minitab and a search for MTBF in their help brought no results (Argh!) So I finally found the formula on the internet, but surprisingly it was difficult to find.  Pf = 1 – e-(t / MTBF)
