Hi – I work for a small bank (300 employees) that has made the decision to move forward with a Six Sigma initiative.  I have been asked to research and recommend training/consulting.  I have been reading these threads for weeks now and have learned a lot.  Mike C mentioned in an earlier post 5 of the best consultants without naming names.  It seems to me that most of these consultants have only been  around for a few years – most being formed from employees of earlier companies.  Can I get some input on how to pick the right one?  If names are appropriate – please provide me with the companies.
Being a purely transactional company – do our black belts need the 4 week manufacturing type training or will a focused transactional program be better?
thanks for any and all of your input –

    Frank,
A focused transactional class would be better, especially if you and your fellow employees are joining a open enrollment wave course offered by many consulting companies. If you have many employees and hire a consultant to teach just to you, then you should expect customization of the content to your industry and/or business (for a fee of course).
There are many consulting companies offering BB training. I would take a 4 week course, not a watered-down version or online. You need all the tools to do the job. Check the calendar on this site. Also, I would read the list of Six Sigma consultants and call a few to see if they have any open enrollment available for transactional businesses.
Regarding opinions on this forum, everyone has one (including me). They’re free so you sometimes get what you pay for.
Good luck with your training — it’s a very exciting time!

    Frank,
If I were going into a transactional deployment there is only one guy that I would use. Rob Tripp. Nobody has the background to even come close to Rob.
If you want his contact information you can contact me at @aol.com">SixSigmaAp@aol.com. He does not work for me.
    Good luck.
