I just remembered where I saw the Normsinv calculation. Give me a couple of days to dig it out of my library. I remember something about Excel97 not being able to accurately calculate z-scores greater than 4 or 4.5. I think Mikel Harry developed a Chebychev polynomial approximation for larger sigma values. If you are familiar with numerical approximation techniques, you can develop an approximating polynomial using either Chebychev or power series methods. It really isn’t too bad (track down an applied math major just out of school, they should know how to do this stuff).0
