I suspect no hiring manager will be as impressed that you have an online GB certification without experience applying the great tools and methodology you’ve learned online.

I’d say if a company has some continuous improvement….consider some self study and tell them that’s an area you’d like to join the company.

Great advice Chris. I would add one thing.

Define your 3 years of experience in a way which explains how it will be foundational to your career goals. Early career is tough. Level set your expectations and build your story based on your strengths.

thanks for the reply, i work in the philippines as a quality assurance engineer in a manufacturing company. my company do have black belts and train greenbelt. but during those time the customer im handling is the biggest demand and my workload cant meet the available training hours. i have one year experience in production and 2 years in quality. i just moved in the USA and while waiting for my working permit to be process i decided to do online class. so i wont waste time. i have bs degree in electrical engineering but the place i grew up in philippines had lots of known manufacturing company where i ended up working.
i decide to just do greenbelt certification online and 4 basic courses online about quality and manufacturing in any school here in the usa. i would like to know if this will do good in my resume. coz i just started one course now, and doesnt know continuing will be worth it. because greenbelt is expensive. thanks hoping for your help guys.

    Marian,
Education is always good whether online or traditional. I recommend you stick with the inline course and do as well as you can. There are However, wealth of free educational materials that you can use to educate yourself. If you are in close proximity of a university where Master’s in Industrial Engineering is offered, I would recommend that you look into it. There may be even financial aid for you to get your MSIE, especially if you are a green card holder or citizen. Good luck.
