iSixSigma CommunityParticipant@iSixSigma-CommunityInclude @iSixSigma-Community in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Dear John and fellow iSixSigma Forum readers,
Thank you for your email posting regarding the removal of email address visibility. The staff of iSixSigma weighed the pros and cons of displaying email addresses — many of which were provided by users. Here are some of the most persuasive points:
Pros of Displaying Email Addresses Readers can respond directly to other users Displaying email addresses adds to authenticity of postings
Cons of Displaying Email Addresses Unscrupulous visitors have been gathering email addresses for spam campaigns (spam is defined as unwelcome, unsubscribed email solicitations) Posters do not want to allow other users to have their email address, but do want to receive email notifications of follow-ups to their posts
What does everyone else feel about this subject? Please provide your feedback so we can tailor our policies to better meet your needs.

John NogueraParticipant@John-NogueraInclude @John-Noguera in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Dear iSixSigma,
It seems to me that since you dropped the inclusion of e-mail addresses, there has been a notable increase in rework (ie reposts and requests for addresses).
Previously we always had the option to specify “anonymous” in the e-mail address.
I would like to see the Message board revert back to posting the e-mail addresses. Do I have a seconder?0July 26, 2001 at 4:00 am #67703
AnonymousParticipant@AnonymousInclude @Anonymous in your post and this person will
be notified via email. On the topic of anonymous postings, it is not just about e-mail spam. If an e-mail address contains a company name, you can end up getting unsolicited phone calls as well.

John NogueraParticipant@John-NogueraInclude @John-Noguera in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I don’t think the concerns about privacy hold weight given that the address is voluntary disclosure. One can always keep the e-mail address anonymous.

Ken MyersParticipant@Ken-MyersInclude @Ken-Myers in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I would like to weigh in with John. I believe some unsolicited email is a part of life these days. Given each user has the option to remain anonymous, I believe their concerns are covered. For the rest of us, I believe the omission of direct email contact has dimished the value of this board. I’ve found great value in direct communication with my peers, and I believe they have found the same with me. Please give consideration to including the old functionality of email contact back to this board. Thanks for the opportunity to respond.
Ken0July 26, 2001 at 4:00 am #67720I second that!

0July 26, 2001 at 4:00 am #67733I have personally been emailed and called by recruiters after previous posts. I don’t think that email addresses should be shown. If I want to be contacted, I will check the box and they can respond to my message.
Another alternative is to have an “email this person” button that allows emails to be sent by a person to another without disclosing the recipient’s email. So for instance, if someone wanted to contact me they could use a form that would send an email to me and if I wanted to reply to them via my email address I could. That would be a great tool (hint, hint, isixsigma!).
What does everyone that is in favor of showing email addresses think about that? Any other constructive ideas to build off of this?

John StricklandParticipant@John-StricklandInclude @John-Strickland in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I agree. The forum should allow members to comunicate with each other as well as with the forum as a whole. If anyone is concerned about Spam or unsolicited phone calls they should simply use the anonymous option.
I also think that I should be able to tag any subject (not just my own) and be informed about new postings.

Dave Davidson MethotParticipant@Dave-Davidson-MethotInclude @Dave-Davidson-Methot in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Teryy, that’s a great suggestion. I tend to agree with most of the others who have replied. I have benefitted from being able to exchange posts with other 6s community members. However, the greater the options abailable, the more flexibility and choice I personally have to tailor my participation to my needs. An “anonymous” contact button would be a great addition to this BBS.

Jim ParnellaParticipant@Jim-ParnellaInclude @Jim-Parnella in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I’d like to see the e-mail addresses return. Reason: I’ve e-mailed information (mostly attachments) to posters in the past and they were appreciative of the information. If e-mail addresses cannot return, then you ought to consider giving us the ability to attach documents. The easiest way to handle this is to bring back the e-mail addresses.

Jim ParnellaParticipant@Jim-ParnellaInclude @Jim-Parnella in your post and this person will

Great idea. How about it isixsigma? Why not include the regular e-mail address and an anonymous e-mail address?

FernandezParticipant@EstherInclude @Esther in your post and this person will
be notified via email. As far as including email addresses–why not make it optional? There is always a risk of spam or unwanted/unsolicited calls or emails, but I appreciate having the contact info for follow up questions or direct contact.
0July 31, 2001 at 4:00 am #67777Hello isixsigma community,
Terry’s idea is terrific…I think that can be adopted by the isixsigma community.
