Does anyone have experience with the Open Source BB materials? I am considering purchasing these materials, and would like some candid feedback.

My philosophy has always been that you get what you pay for.
However, depending on what you’re going to do with it, BMG’s open source training is pretty decent (bmgu dot org).

Larry, what is your concern? What is it you need to know to assist with a purchase decision?

Union, do you think the plasma screen TV’s were better when you had to pay $5000 or might someone have figured out a better business model that can bring them to you at $1000? Be careful with that old adage…business models move quickly now days.

Im not sure I follow that analogy

Union, you’re a smart guy I don’t know how you could not grasp the analogy.

You, in essense, said better things cost more; that which costs less cannot be as good. Implying that since OSSS sells, licenses actually, its courseware at such a low cost it cannot be very good.

I’m saying industry moves quickly. OSSS has a business model that allows it to sell its courseware at a very low price relative to other sources. And, I assure you the robustness of the OSSS courseware matches or exceeds that of even the better of the providers in the industry. The BB course has been matched by a third party to the ASQ BOK and has been found to have in excess of a 93% correlation. Same for IASSC where the correlation exceeds 98%.

Have I made the analogy clearer now?

Yeah, still not quite getting it. What does the price of TV’s 5 years ago vs today have to do with comparing multiple prices & products today?

The quality of OSSS’s modules aside (my experience with it shows it to be questionable), he still has the option to leverage effective GB/BB training for free via BMG’s open source site. Their modules are pretty tight and better (in my opinion) than OSSS’s non-free offerings. (I have no ties to either).

BMG’s classroom stuff isn’t out yet. Do you have access to free BMG classroom materials, or only the online stuff?

Beware, Robert Jackson is yet another incarnation of Brandon. He works for the open source folks.

Union, what is it you find questionable? Subject matter content, depth of presentation, graphical/pictorial quality of presentation…? It would be a great deal more helpful if you would state some specifics as opposed to a general degradation.

Stan, just what is it that one should beware of relative to me? And, seeing as how you and I have never met I am puzzled as to your basis for such a post. Guess you must really have something against OSSS. Correct?

Gosh…Now I remember why I haven’t been in the discussion forum here for years. The same drama!

Now back to something useful….Does anyone know if BMGU has classroom materials available for free?

LMBB, I attempted to answer your question.

I was then faced with Union posting a negative comment about OSSS material. I simply ask him to explain his statement.

Next I was personally atttacked by Stan, who I don’t know, so I asked why he did that.

I hope you are not inferring I’m part of this drama. I’m just trying to converse based on your question.

    Bob S,

Your are the drama with your constant advertising of your lame product. Tell people who you really are and your association with OSSS and your association with the lame “certification” you will also be on here recommending.

Your pretense is old. Doesn’t a 60 something have better things to do with their time? Most guys your age have turned to something useful by now.

    LMBB,

If you want to know what BMG is doing, call or write them an email. Hint, they advertise on here and they would love to get their hooks in you with their “free” product.

But, in BMG’s defense, they are not as lame as “Robert Jackson” aka Brandon, Bob S, Les, …..
