OVERALL EQUIPMENT EFFICIENCY
OEE = Availability * Performance * Quality
Availability = Planned Production time / Available Time (hr.)
Quality = Weight of good products / Weight of all products
Performance = Actual rate of machines per item / Ideal rate of machines per item
Down time percent = down time / Planned production time
Planned production time = Quantity of Production (km) / Ideal rate of machines (km/hr)
I understand the application in factories as following:
· Availability that if the machine is available 24 hours daily but the sales can only insure orders that make the machine work 12 hours then Availability = 12/24 = 50%
· Quality : If the weight of daily good products 3000 kg while the weight of all products is 3200 kg then Quality = 3000/3200 = 93.57 %
· Performance : if the ideal productivity of the machine is 500 km/hr while the actual was 300km/hr (because of downtime and / or not using the machine with it’s full capacity) then the performance = 300/500 = 60%
· Then OEE = 50% * 93.57% * 60% = 28%
Would any body approve different understanding ? and is OEE better to be calculated monthly or daily and for each machine or for all machines in one factory together?

Daniel LiuParticipant@Daniel-LiuInclude @Daniel-Liu in your post and this person will
be notified via email.I just calculate OEE monthly and weekly for key equipments which will affect productivity,efficiency and cost
*Our factory actual situation is one operator will operate several cheap machines0September 5, 2008 at 4:25 am #175491My name is Amir, Facilities Asst. General Manager, Canon Opto Malaysia.
I am looking for training related to OEE either organized in Malaysia or out of Malaysia.
