    Dear Experts,
    Daily we are auditing 6 in-patient medical records to see if these records comply with a specific standard or no, yes or no data.
    The reason behind the sample size (6 records per day) is, we don’t have enough time to check more than 6.
    My question is, I am bit confused, do I have to use p or np control chat?

    Hi , I’m not the expert you asked ,but I think it’s not so difficult to choose “p-chart ” or “np-chart” . Acturely your basic of use all control charts is to compare with all the data you collected ,if you take out 6 records everyday and no change of the number ,those two charts are the same for your analysis ,but if you had chosen 7 records yesterday and chose 6 records today ,5 tomorrow …,then the ” np-chart ” is meaningless for you to do any analysis ,the “p-chart ” is the only one you have to choose .
    You can check any SPC file for the result .

    Firstly, what are you trying to achieve ? What problem are you addressing ?
    Is your data binomially distributed ?  That is, does it follow the conditions for a binomial distribution, as described in “Advanced Topics in SPC” Wheeler, p255 ?  If not, and assuming you have an adequate sampling technique, and that data is from a single source, use an XmR chart.
