When we say that control charts are based on 3 sigma limits, what actually we want to say in physical sense??
Why we normally, i would say always, take 3 sigma limits, knowing that it contains 2700ppm defectives.
Regards0July 12, 2005 at 8:07 am #122912It means that if we assume a distribution of the data to be normal, then the probability of type 1 error is 0.0027, that is, an incorrect out-of-control signal or false alarm will be generated in only 27 out of 10000 points. Simple!!
