be notified via email.Poisson is for defects while Binomial is for defectives. Both are applied for proportions
0January 25, 2007 at 7:29 pm #151064Generally speaking, Poisson distribution is based on rate measure (like number of defects per sq cm) whereas binomial distribution is based on proportion measure. But these two distributions are related: Poisson distribution can be simulated by binomial distribtution when the latter has large n and small p (eg. p<0.01). In choosing which distribution you should use, all you need to consider is which of the two distributions best fit your sample data distribution (or transformed sample data distribution).
