My boss (and project champion) has asked me to “Sigmaize up the place”. The idea being that we want to instill a notion that the program is here to stay or that we are major backers etc. We really need to get everyone thinking in terms of Sigma / Methodology / Potential Projects / and so on.
I plan on using some scorecards or dashboards but does anyone have some ideas on where to get some posters or what to develop for some posters?

Hi- I don’t know where we can get any posters, but what we did as a company was to create a six sigma “bulletin” that was emailed out each week to the entire company.  Each week we covered a different topic.  First week a general overview, next week we explained “Define” using , followed by the next week “measure” .  You can use an example project, something fun or real to the company, to illustrate as you go through each week. Also, we use a form of Six Sigma Jeapordy on our project team conference calls to keep everyone familiar with the terms, with the big prize being six sigma related (I am giving a copy of the “Six Sigma Way Team fieldbook” as a prize).
However,  I think thought that the most effective way to six sigma-tize an organization is to get people (early adapters) involved in a project as a subject matter expert or core team member.  If they go through the process, see the benefits and are recognized as a part of the team, they tend to be more accepting of the culture.

If you e-mail me with your e-mail address, I will send you a Six Sigma Story Board that can be used as a quick way to summarize each active project.  It is a 1-2 slide powerpoint presentation you can use.

    Coffee,
Did you look at the store on this site? They have some posters that might be of interest. I bought one for my office, then one of my BBs saw it and wanted one for her office for her birthday that’s coming up. :) …Whatever it takes to keep the BBs happy!

Be careful with your posters.  They can give a flavor of the month feel real fast.  Make sure they go up and come down when they are worn out (both conceptually and when the corners start to rip and curl!).  We are also starting something similar to Sigma Guy with an “Improvement Gallery” where each improvement team will have a full color bulletin board to post their results, graphs, storyboards, etc.  Then as new projects are finished they can take the old projects place.
    Just me thoughts – BP

I don’t see any posters in the store on this site? Only clothing, cups and fisbee type stuff.

Ask Billybob what he has in stock.  His boss is huge proponent of Possum Sigma.  Your email resulted in Deming coming back to life!

I wouldn’t put much effort into posters and coffee mugs.  I was with an individual two weeks ago who pulled out a collection of mugs, tee shirts, posters, newsletters, caps, and paperweights from previous flavor-of-the-month improvement programs in his company.  It was funny, but it wasn’t funny, because it revealed a lot about this organization and culture.  About all the evidence of these programs was his collection!  Remember, unwavering leadership, a well defined strategy, executive involvement, and a consistent message gets you a lot more than the posters.
If you want to do something, here’s a quick idea.  One of our clients walked around with a digital camera and took pics of people “doing their projects in action.”  They were not smiley pics but images of people working on Minitab, on the floor, teams interpreting charts, close ups of a Multivari, etc.  Then they had a designer create several collage posters and added their company name & logo and a Six Sigma message.  Very effective, very inexpensive, very quick.
We use storyboards all the time also, to showcase team and individual success stories, display performance measures, and to reinforce the Six Sigma strategy to people.  Also very effective.
    Good Luck

    SigmaGuy,
Can you post your presentation to this thread? I’m hesitant about posting my email address as I receive too much spam as it is! :)
    Thanks so much!

    Megan,
E-mail me personally at [email protected] and I will promptly send you the storyboard.  I do not want to publish it for the masses, just share it with interested individuals who will use it and value it.  Sorry for being so complicated.

Larry- Thank you so much for the storyboard – we had something similiar but I like the condendsed version you put it in and the sequential questions it prompts you to ask.  Thank you so much for sharing this valuable information!

    Tami,
You are very welcome.  If you need anything else, don’t hesitate to ask.  Let me know how it works out, or any feedback you receive.

    Hello folks,
And a late Happy Easter to all, and “Way to Go American Armed Forces”!
Not only do we carry a complete line of Possum Posters, but please consider our line of possum paperweights, possum paper clip holders and the famous possum refrigerator magnets.
    Later,
    Billybob

Sorry, but I’ve already spent all of my discretionary income on the 55 infamous Iraqi’s playing cards.
I’ll keep possom trinkets in mind for Christmas but only if there are no new releases of  “evil doer” playing cards.
