I have heard the numbers 2 parts per billion for six sigma and 3.4 parts per million for 4.5 sigma. However, it seems that the 2 parts per billion is based on a two-tail test and the 3.4 parts per million is based on a one-tail test. Shouldn’t the comparison be between 1 part per billion (6 sigma) and 3.4 PPM (4.5 sigma), both using the one-tail test?0December 8, 2006 at 3:52 am #148662
