    Hi,

I am making process capability analysis for the amount of cheques dishonored.  Our measurement system collects information on no of cheques and amount of cheques dishonored.  CTQ of the project is “% of Value of Cheques dishonored against deposited”

I am confused whether to use Poisson or binominal distribution, in both the cases what should be the unit size to be given in Minitab.

    Data is not Normal……  (Normality test p = 0.008)

    Your help requested.

    You said that….
CTQ of the project is “% of Value of Cheques dishonored against deposited”
Fine – but you also need to know that how often you need to monitor this metric – daily, weekly, monthly etc.
Say that you need to do it on a weekly basis – you may now work out the %age of Values of cheques dishonoured to deposited (and not nos of cheques dishonoured to deposited)on week-on-week basis. These % would essentilly be a continuous data as their genesis lies in coninuous data.
You also need to capture what is your specification and you may proceed ahead with capability calculations for continuos data.
    hope this helps
