A customer asked…Can your printer meet the reliability of 1 in 450,000 @60 % confidence?

Any advise from anyone what does this mean in simple terms that Sales team can understand?

    Haha :-)

Sorry for my laughter but 60% confidence is just a funny game with the numbers.

The standard confidence level should be 95% or in some cases 99%.

I think the question is a nonsense and Your customer just tried to test You…

I agree this is unusual. One might say ‘Can you be 60% sure you will succeed in this single effort’ but it is strange to say ‘Can you be 60% sure you will succeed in 449,999 out of 450,000 cases?’ It would be more typical to convert ‘60% / 1 in 450k’ to ‘95% / 1 in 50k’, for instance. I would double-check with your customer the reason for setting it up that way.

    Nice customer’s question!

Simple estimations show hundreds millions of tests to be conducted to demonstrate such reliability :) Confirming these numbers you will definitely lie to clients :)))
