How do I track process capability on production rates on tooling?

For example, I would like to compare current production rates now to production rates on the same machine from 1,2,3 years ago.

Scheduling can greatly affect how productive we are and we have decreased our cycle time.

I am new and would like to know how to compare whether we are better now or before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Kmac25 Comparing current rates to historical rates can be done a lot of different ways. Something as simple as a time series plot, box plot, dot plot if you want to see it graphically or you can do a hypothesis test. Personally I prefer something like a hypothesis test so I can make definitive statements regarding confidence that you don’t get from graphs.

I don’t get your reference to process capability. I assume you are not referencing the Capability analysis?

I prefer to see it as a graphical boxplot or you could use the One-way ANOVA for statistical validation. All types of graphical tools you can overlay histograms on one graph and delete the bars for a quick look.

If you have lots of weeks of data for every year….consider a dot plot (or box plot) and you could do an ongoing run chart on the same display for a feedback loop.
