    Hi All,
I am working in software company in a Black Belt role, I have been assigned a BB Project for whole organizational streamlining and cost cutting, Can anybody tell me how to proceed for that and what all to be included in project scope? , since whole organization is a vague term.
    Regards
    Anil

This is not a single project – go back to management and ask what they are needing to accomplish and put that back out here. We’ll help you scope the projects from there.

I agree with Stan.  You might start by asking them to define what they mean by ‘streamlining’.  Often times, people have different definitions for buzzwords about this.  You are going to need to break it down in thing(s) that are measurable.  Ask them if they have competitive gaps in cost structure.  You can cut costs and ‘streamline’ with SS.  You are just going to need to break those things down into smaller chunks for individual projects.

As the two previous post eluded, this is more than just a SS Project.  If you are being asked to redesign an organization there is much to consider.  What is the mission, vision, and business imperatives of the organization?  What is the true value stream of the organization?  How to classify VA versus NVA?  All these things can be very sensitive and political.  And even if you are lucky enough to develop an org. structure, pulling the trigger can be a problem if you are reducing heads.  There are legal factors that need to be understood and addressed.
