What do we infer from Scatter & Dot plot?
If in a Scatter plot the dots are parallel to efffect line , ehat does it mean?0November 21, 2007 at 7:41 am #165199

Hemanth: There are quite a few tools but mainly regression analysis and Design of Experiments can help you check cause and effect and also the most critical one’s. To know which causes are more critical I would suggest to conduct DOE’s.
“What do we infer from Scatter & Dot plot?”
Hemanth: Scatter plot help us to see the correlation between cause and effect (strong positive, weak negative, no relation etc). They would help as the first level of analysis for cause and effect. Typically used to see any correlation from the data collected during measure phase of the project.
“If in a Scatter plot the dots are parallel to efffect line , ehat does it mean?”
Hemanth: It will tell you that some other cause is influencing the change in effect. You might want to try plotting the scatter plot with some other cause for the effect. In general if the plot is absolutely parallel to effect line then there is no correlation between cause and effect for sure.0 - AuthorPosts
