Can anyone tell me what a Quick Win opportunity is, or at least direct me to where I can find an explanation? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Quick win refers a improvement initiative as Identify and eliminate a process contraints (ej.- do you evaluate a process flow and identified that you are spendind a lot of time doing set-up´s. then apply SMED and reduce set-up time)
Increasing throughput yield and reducind operational cycle time on this equipment.

Quick win – (Noun) A potential to make relatively moderate gains with little to no effort. See “Low hanging fruit”.

Agreed,
Sometimes a quick win is something that needs doing & can be done quickly & with little effort, but the guys who could do it (process ops / supervisors / Engineers etc) sometimes have more ‘urgent’ things to do. For this reason a GB / BB / Lean guy can nip in & get the job done, say within 2 weeks (or less) there may not be any big $$$’s savings, but its another bug bear put to bed.
Sometimes known as a JDI (Just Do It)
J0August 17, 2005 at 9:41 am #125206hope that this further explanation will help to have better clarity.
Quick win opportunity is easy to implement, cheap to implement, fast to implement and it is within the teams control.
It is a low hanging fruit, there is no need of much efforts to analyse and implement.
For example after a process mapping we may have an opportunity to identify and eliminate the non value added activities just by reviewing the process map.
“Activities to be done quickly” as per the process owner / customer is not a QuickWin.All quick wins will definitely give the dollars.otherwise there is no win and no question of quick win.
The important caution is that six sigma project not ends with quick wins.Team should not focus only on quick wins. They have to put their efforts on identifying and reducing the variations.
