Marlon – try a web search on it.  There are a bunch of sites that will tell you what you need to know.  It’s a pretty cool device used in training to get people to understand the nature of dispersion, etc.  They are pretty expensive to buy an actual Quincunx box, but there are some free software versions available if you search for it.

The above posting was not by the original Six Sigma Shooter.
    That said, you are welcome.

I thought that might have been you, oh Stan the man?  It never ceases to amaze me the lack of research capabilities of the belts who, having the tools at their fingertips, can’t seem to use them?  Arghhh???

Gee Marlon, if no one else will answer your question, especially that pesky Stan, I will. Check this link:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quincunx

Read pages 16 to 32 “Normality and the Process Behaviour Chart” for a fascinating analysis of the Quincunx. Surprisingly, the distribution of balls is not binomial  !!!
