Does anyone know of any radiology benchmarks?  I’m thinking in terms of # of equipment based on volumes, equipment utilization percentages, exam durations, staffing, etc. for academic medical centers vs. community hospitals, etc.

    Jen,
GE Healthcare mainitains benchmarks of exam times, room utilization, volume per hour, as well as many other operational metrics.  We provide these to our customers with consulting engagements done at imaging facilities.  If you’d like to learn more please forward your phone number and I’ll give you more information about how to access them.

Robin – Unfortunately project budget and time constraints kept me from exploring this any further last fall.

Thanks for the reply, Jen.  I read an interesting article by Mindy Goldsmith. PHD called APPLES TO APPLES-RVU ANALYSIS IN RADIOLOGY, published in Radiology Today, Vol 6, No 11, P. 14.
I may use this idea for some benchmark studies for my department. Check it out!  I found it on line.  If you are interested in reading it and cannot find it, I can e-mail you it in a word document.
    Happy Thanksgiving!
