I just read the following on PEX Network email:
“At the end of 2011 the postal service thus introduced a continuous improvement program based on Lean Six Sigma. Since the start of the program they have achieved $8.1M in realized savings and estimate a further $58M from projects that are currently in flight. For their achievement, USPS won PEX Network’s 2014 Process Excellence awards for Best Business Process Excellence Program under 2 years. Download this whitepaper to view their award winning entry.”

Really? Is this what the industry has come to? A failed Lean Six Sigma program in the 2007 time frame, a failed service provider, continued threats of pricing increases and cutting of Saturday delivery, and now they win an award for their program?

    What has our industry become?

Who’s leading the program at USPS?

Am I being unfair in my questioning this?

However if they are excited about a whole $8.1 MM savings to date on their size budget, they had low expectations on a % basis.
