    Hi
I am evaluating the option of going through the Black belt program of Villanova university and getting certified through their exams. I would specifically like to know the market value of a black belt certification from Villanova university. If anybody out there has prior experience of going through a villonova university program please enlighten me.
    Thanks and regards
    Daniel

When I’m hiring I tend to look at what someones done. Getting a certificate wouldn’t help until you’ve shown you can use it.
I’ve actually hired and trained people without certfication if they’ve proved they can make improvements.

    Hi Dave
I really appreciate your thought process, but I have seen many top firms refusing to even call people for an interview if they do not have a certification without really assessing them in the way you have described.
Is there any way I can get in touch with you and know you better. Pls do reply with your email address

    Yes
I have gone through their 3 SS courses ,obtained the master certificate in SS.
Excellent course with a virtual project which is much better than any
true project, considering the used tools and the learning experience.Β

By statng that a simulation is uperior to actually doing a project highlights the errors in your thinking.
Perhaps you can get a simulated job and produce simulated products in a simulated factory with simulated customers.
Using tools is only a very small part of being a six sigma BB or MBB..
Your training obviously must be related to a university that prodcues simulated educational opportunities.

My experience was with GE in the UK taking on external people into BB roles. Here we took on people for experince of industry and skills as we could then train them in the our flavour of Six Sgima and Lean and not have to break any bad habits.

I too find the comment that the “simulated project is superior to the real thing” nothing short of hilarious. The LSS manager I used to work for got his BB through Villanova, using a sim project. He could recite the terms and tools, but had no clue as to what it took to get an actual project done from start to finish. When will people realize that SS, Lean, whatever, has very little to do with the TOOLS, but everything to do with the PEOPLE?
