    Hi,
We calculate the metrics at individual project level across the organsitation on a monthly basis for the completed phases. And we consider the projects efforts/cost/duration for a particular Business Unit to arrive the metrics at BU level, but due to cumulative figures(efforts/cost/duration), BU metrics always are with in limits and not showing true picture of BU .
Could anyone provide advise/inputs for the issue.
    Thanaks,Naveen

Can you explain a little bit more on what are you trying to focus on?

Wwe have requirement to calculate metrics at project level as well as BU level, BU level metrics are used to compute the health of the BU. Even though project level metrics are having  huge slippages (+ve, -Ve), the same thing is not reflecting when we calculate at BU level (we are taking cumulative efforts, costs, duration). When we take cumulative value , +ve values are getting nullified by -ve values and the overall BU level metrics are shown as with in the limits and not able to show the correct picture of the BU to the mgmt.
    Thanks, Naveen

Naveen,Do you understand what happens when you take averages of large
samples?Consider reporting variation as well (this is Six Sigma after all)
