As a request from the other people on this blog can you 2 take your bickering off line. I’m not sure what you get out of this but at the moment when I’m looking for information I’m now skipping both of your input as 99% of it has nothing to do with the subject so to me is pure waste.
Saying that when I’m bored it’s sometime fun to read who’s peeing higher up the wall today.

Most likely it’s friendly fire, I hope..But I agree Bored, take it off line and use this site for professional dialog between beginners and mentors

Feel free to skip anything I post, I promise not to be offended if you
    can demonstrate such discipline.

Actually, I find Stan’s jaded bulldog viewpoint to be somewhat refreshing and vital to the success of this forum.  These threads are inundated with lame requests from individuals who want to be spoonfed information that is readily available elsewhere, self-promoters looking to prey on those who are lacking in knowledge, and grossly incorrect responses.   Stan takes these individuals to task regularly and while his responses don’t always point you in the right direction he does steer you from bad information.
Vote yes to Stan in 2008.

I suppose that why the bickering between these two gets me so annoyed as it distracts from the good points that are made and as the points being made are the same ones over and over…….

Maybe you are attempting to create the impression that you are to professional for this or whatever image you want to create. Nobody is impressed. Just like Stan said. If you don’t like it don’t open it. I suppose you have not figured out you can change channels on a television set yet either? That is a poncy response.

I believe if it is up to Stan standards no body would ever be a SSBB,etc
Nobody would ever pass a SS test

While I cannot speak for Stan, I believe that testing alone does not a BB make and that many people today attend training just to have a check off on their resume.  When I was in college, I took classes in vibrations, thermodynamics, heat transfer, etc. and I received very good grades.  However, if you asked me tomorrow to go and design a turbine or an ICE, I’d probably kill somebody with what I produced.
By the same token, I received a D in statistics yet today I’m interpreting and implementing DoE’s, SPC, GR&R’s etc at a pretty high competency level while I watch ASQ certified SS practicioners make make horrible decisions based on inadequate data.  The difference?  Trial by fire.  I learned tools as I needed them and was constantly challenged on my answers/solutions.  They sat in a classroom for a few hours a week and then took a multiple choice quiz.
If that is the fundamental argument that Stan subscribes to, then I can do nothing but agree with him.

Jsev, I doubt anyone has an argument with that. I’ve said it in different words in previous posts. Classroom, book & online learning provide foundations; concept understandings and knowledge of reference sources. One learns to “Do” something by “Doing” something. And that learning is aided immensely if the learner has access to a competent mentor.

Maybe I’m now seeing the problem. I’m not trying to create an impression and I’m not trying to impress anyone. That wording helps me understand this site alot more.
On your analogy towards channels I do know when to change over and I see these messages as those annoying adverts that are inbetween the things you want to see and I do fast forward through them or change channels but they still take up time I’d rather not spend.

Amen brother.Sounds like a good argument not to use some off the shelf materials
with speaker notes. Also sounds like a good argument not to take advice from someone
who happened to keep books for a consultancy.

hahaha, from my point of view I do appreciate more of such arguements.
World is colorful, am I right?
    Cheers,
