    Hi,
    Scenario:
Two opportunities in a unit – Length & Dia
    Total units manufactured- 100
Units checked for length – 100
    Defects – 0
Units checked for Dia – 10
    Defects 2
    Question:
    1. While calculating the sigma of this process can we consider the overall opportunities as 110 (Adding the 100 opp for length & 10 opps for dia) and the number of defects as 2 and calculate the DPMO?
    2. Or we should calculate and report the two sigma scores separately (one for length & another for Dia)
3.Or can we extrapolate the defects identified in the 10 samples dia to the population and then calculate the sigma?
    Regards,
    S

Yea, so it’s homework. This sigma calculation stuff is pretty stupid. Just help me and let me get on with something useful.

It is obvious #1 is NOT the answer.
#2 is doable, and can give you DPMO for each dim.
Based on this Which answer would you choose?
