    Does anyone have a sample sixe formula to use in the textile industries where we inspect units/

    N = 1.96 x Standard Dev. Devided by Error (Error you are willing to accept)  all squared.
    This is if you are sampling a lot…..  There are many factors to look at for sampling and sampling sizes…. I don’t believe there is a “one size fits all.”

    1.  “How much of the haystack do I have to inspect to say there are no needles in it?”
    2.  ANSI Z1.4 or ANSI Z1.9
    3.  OR you could identify the process variables that affect process/product success/failure and control those to prevent defects (There’s a whole field of “Six Sigma” intended to accomplish that – you should google “Six Sigma” and see if you can find anything on “Six Sigma”).
