I am attempting to devlop a sampling plan for an incoming receiving process for a distribution center. They have 67 raw material SKU’s that they believe they are not receiving in the accurate qty’s. They want to prove (for better or worse) that they are or not receiving the correct qty’s.

I am looking for help because the receipt frequency for each SKU is VERY small (history for last 12 months on each SKU was reviewed for frequency). The highest rate of receipt value on the list of SKU’s is 148… which produces a sample size of 109 (based on the formula sample size = population/(1+(population*0.05^2)). Every other SKU is less than 20 receipts. They would be willing to sample 100% for a period of time, which I think is the answer… but I don’t know how to determine the frequency of time to sample each SKU.

Can anyone help me come up with the answer or at least point me in the right direction if I’m headed down the right path?

@rywags11 – Is there any acceptance of non-conformance? i.e.; more or less than the invoice indicates.

Yes, they all for a +/- 1% range in the qty received (i.e. when they count it, the final qty can be off +/- 1% from the billed qty)
