Texas State University0April 6, 2004 at 6:25 pm #98050Texas State? Cmon there .. As a UT Austin grad, Ive got to say something. Its NOT “Texas State”, its the University of Texas. I hate to be picky, although we didnt make the Final Four, we do have some standards.
Hookem Horns (and yes, Im making the horns hand sign while I try to type)0April 6, 2004 at 6:40 pm #98053I’m with you. Even though your sports have not been up to expectations lately you still have the best music and beer gardens in the world!
I’d do the UT courses just to go drinking on 6th Street.0April 6, 2004 at 7:27 pm #98067Yep. I agree. Austin. 6th Street. Bevo. Lone Star Beer. Shiner Bach. The Oasis. The County Line. Lake Travis. Hippie Hollow. Threadgills. etc. etc. etc .
Why else would anyone spend 10 years in college? And then, I was thaaat close to post-doc, then maybe assistant professor, then maybe associate professor, then maybe professor (as in NEVER EVER leaving). But, industry called (or, rather, massive college loan debts called – frequently)0April 6, 2004 at 11:09 pm #98085

0April 6, 2004 at 11:25 pm #98089Darth,
Trash away. I was not clear in what I said. I do have a PhD, I just did not do a post-doc, and then stay in academia, to my more than occasional regret. But, the plan is to eventually return to teaching once industry has sucked the life out of me (and that should not take a whole lot longer).

0April 7, 2004 at 2:53 pm #98137Actually, Dr. Darth, it’s a little more complicated than that. The way things have worked out over the years, I’m looking for a good university to buy. Joy and fulfillment come in many flavors. Right now I enjoy what I’m doing (life sucking though it may be).
0April 7, 2004 at 3:02 pm #98138I hear U of Colorado is for sell … or is it just their football team?
0April 7, 2004 at 3:28 pm #98141Buying Colorado football would be an interesting thought. I understand that they have an especially tactful coach fully embracing diversity and a fun time for players.
0April 22, 2004 at 12:22 pm #98979I had the same issue and used the University of Michigan. As you can imagine, most case studies are based on automobile manufacturing. The University of Texas has a 2 week transaction black belt course as well.
