    Hello Everybody!
Does any healthcare organizations use simulation for decision making in current setting or considering in future to include one as a tool for decision making?
We are looking at using simulation to help us decide better to allow us make proper facility changes.
If any of the organizations are using any please provide the software kind, how user friendly it is and the vendor details and how long it would take for a novice in simulation to learn and start builfing the models. And also do we get any technical support if happen to decide on certain software type?
Thanks for all your suggestions and help!

Not necessarily an endorsement, because you’re not supposed to do that on this post, but we used med model – a companion to promodel.  I’m sure you can find literature on it via google.
Sorry I couldn’t be more descriptive

    Thanks Brit,
Yeah I understand we are not supposed to do this on this post, but just trying to find out how user friendly, easy to use and is it really helpful at all, was what I was wondering?
    Thanks again!

It’s good all around.  I’m sure there are other programs out there, but that’s what we used.  I would suggest that you get traiing from them before moving forward.  It would be nice if the person building the models also has some statistical knowledge, especially in data distributions.

    Max,
We are starting to use simulation here at OHSU with great success. We use a product called iGrafx. If you would like to know fell free to call or email me.

    Hey Brit,
Can I know your e-mail address, so I could ask you more questions on using simulation modelling w.r.t. health care.
    Thanks!
