    Hello,
I’m new to the forum and a student engineering (holland).
I’m a trainee and i want to use six sigma methodics to define my problems.
I’m unsure wich part of the companie is my customer, and wich are the suppliers. Therefor, before defining the CCR’s and the CBR’s I want to fill in the SIPOC diagram. However, I found in the theory that this diagram is mostly used in the measure phase. Is it correct to use the SIPOC this early in the define phase, or should i use something different?
    Thanks!
    Greetings, Jasper

    Groetjes Heer Jasper,
The Customer can be your end-line User of your product or service.   Depending on the scope of your project, you may also define Customer as anyone you receives the product of your labor.
I use the SIPOC in conjunction with a Thought-Process Map, Criticality tree and 3-sentence problem statement in the define, or measure stage.
    Tot Ziens,
    Heebee

SIPOC in the define phase could be used to identify project team members especially when the project involves cross functional scope.

    Hi Jasper,
Firstly you need to complete the SIPOC in define phase and then identify the input indicators and out put indicators but these may not be an exhaustive ones. In the measure phase initially you will visit these indicators and do a root cause analysis and then identify the real root causes and then will come and update the i/p indicator an o/p indicator as defined earlier while coming up with SIPOC. I hope this clarifies for further details contact [email protected]
