Hi Everyone,
I’m just starting out on a process review of the use of sitters. It seems like this has been discussed before but I’m now wondering if I can get some info from you folks who have all ready gone thru this process. Any decision trees, or other types of decision matrices would be great appreciated or even contact info if you’ve already completed this process.
Thanks.0January 4, 2010 at 4:37 pm #62527We are in pilot phase of a new form for identifying need for constant observation (sitter). We do not have enough usage yet to give feedback on how it going at our facilities. We based our tool/improvements on 2 very helpful articles: Journal of Advanced Nursing 64 (2) 176-184 “Effective assessment of use of sitters by nurses in inpatient care settings; and August 2009 Nursing Management “A S.A.F.E. alternative to sitters.”

0February 9, 2010 at 5:34 pm #62545Teresa, our team decided not to implement the tool we developed. However, if you would still like to see our tool, let me know.
