0July 15, 2006 at 1:40 pm #140390Allan, coincidently I am also doing a small research for sharing with my students in the same area. Appreciate if you can forward some info on the application of Six Sigma in the Service Industry. A simple example or case study should be good enough.
I also welcome feedback on a practical application of Six Sigma in the manufacturing industry. Many thanks for any contribution.

Ken FeldmanParticipant@DarthInclude @Darth in your post and this person will
be notified via email.Lee, first of all you are responding to a three year old post…dumb. Secondly, if you have no examples and applications for SS in Service or Manufacturing what the hxxl are you doing teaching anyone anything???
0July 15, 2006 at 3:12 pm #140395Darth,
This is quite common in the UK. I know several senior lecturers who’ve never solved a problem, never worked on a project, and never been involved in a deployment.
When you ask any question about their examples they provide there is no subtance, and yet when you give them a real example … they don’t believe you – such is the nature of our topsy-turvy world right now; no wonder so many things don’t work anymore (UK.)
Have a good weekend!
Cheers,

This isn’t that unusual. Some of the most published authors on Lean Six Sigma have never done projects of any sort. Some of the other authors were other types of consultants and just jumped onto a fast moving train. They served that segment of the market well that was looking for the non-math approach to Six Sigma.

I received a phone call from a consultant of Fidelity Thailand last Friday. The consulant has no clue on what is lean six sigma, but still they are bidding for a lean six sigma project with a local bank. They even asked me how much they shall charge their client. Huuuh!!!
