Hi,Do any of you know of Articles/Journals with updates about ford’s 6 sigma program. Ford has been going down through the years and it seems there is something wrong with their 6 sigma implementation or the organization as a whole. thanks,
mark0June 24, 2008 at 2:38 pm #173138There is nothing wrong with SS at Ford – evidence their rise up the Quaility ratings. But SS cannot cure management short term decisions based on flawed thinking. So if you want to look at the disconnect between their SS program and their strategic plan, that I will buy.
You need strong strategic planning and strong, intellegent management – both of which Ford has lacked for decades.0June 24, 2008 at 5:15 pm #173149

Come on…what could SS have done for buggy whip companies?0June 24, 2008 at 6:10 pm #173151That buggy whip arguement is compelling but a bit long in the
tooth. Truth is, I’ve never met a Ford BB I would hire. From the crummy
outside help to the inside posers like Phong Vu, they never had a
chance.0June 24, 2008 at 6:24 pm #173154

They are doomed to financial restructure – bankruptcy and reorganization…meaning stock holders and pension recipients are going to eat it.0June 24, 2008 at 6:31 pm #173156

Virgin America is successful so far in the airlines market along with Southwest Airlines which are both still operating in the black….last I read.0June 24, 2008 at 6:43 pm #173157

VOC is very important but it don’t fix capital investments and enormous pension fund payments…recall this post started relative to Ford’s SS program.
Also, Virgin is relatively new and SW never followed the AA, TWA, United, et al script.0June 24, 2008 at 6:54 pm #173158

I might be pushing a bit but Virgin America and Southwest are both using lean principles (more fuel efficient planes for VA and point-to-point flying for LUV). Of course, as a Dallas resident, when I’m there, I’m a fan of Southwest Airlines.0 -
