In South Korea, 6Sigma is really big. Some brands profile themselves as 6Sigma companies even to the end user in retail shops. Apparently it is a widely recognized issue, otherwise it wouldn’t work as marketing strategy.0December 9, 2003 at 5:04 am #93356Please include Viasystems

In India the six sigma is a Corporate Philosophy for any big corporates…credit goes to GE – India (GE Capital international Services – India) pioneer in introducing Six Sigma to India. India has an estimation of 400 to 500 black belts (certified), there are lot of people currently doing BB role but not certified.

I am dealing with one telecommunication six sigma company daily in my area. Six Sigma wording is printed in their mission statement since five years ago. But in my opinion, their actual service quality is at 3-sigma level or even worst. It takes me at least 30 minutes waiting time to connect to their customer service center!
I have not yet come across a local Asian company achieved the Motorola’s six sigma level.0January 24, 2004 at 2:33 pm #94595

If you are looking for a benchmark CEO/President look at Sumitomo Heavy Industries – President Heno (Japan of course). You can also use Mr. Trehan at Crompton Grieves in Mumbai. I have worked with both and they understand the program and their role very well.
I have also worked with NEC, Maxell Hitachi, and Medtronics in Japan. We also spent time with Nokia in Beijing. Samsung, LG and Kia in Korea. Essilor in Tailand.
They are indigenous and 67% of what you asked for. I am sure there are more.

This is Sridhar from Pune, presently working as L1 engineer at Wipro Spectramind. When I was working for GE, I had an insight of Six sigma methodologies, and according to the methodologies, one has to work rigorously to attain the 4.5 level matrix, i.e. 4.5 per million opportunities. What we understand with these terms is that one brings about deliverables without a defect. I feel that is highly impossible, because we work in a place where we lack infrastructure.0October 2, 2004 at 9:36 am #108464I am in Singapore and my company is one of suppliers of Seagate. 0October 4, 2004 at 11:07 am #108490Yes, I know the dabbawallas of Mumbai got Six Sigma quality in their delivery processes, but isnt it just amazing how they did it with very minimal or almost no education on these hi-fi techniques? Its very encouraging.. ultimately its only how good you design your process, define the CT-Q/C/D, and then control them!!!

Till today I do not understand how a company get 6 sigma certrified. Lets take for example Wipro. If Wipro is working on 10 project at the same time, then it must maintain the six sigma standards on all the projects to become a 6 sigma company. This is what I understand how things work for six sigma. Otherwise how a company gets 6 sigma certification. Please explain it to me. How actually things work for a company on the six sigma standards?

Don’t be so demanding in your posts. You’ll catch more flies with honey. Remember, no one’s here to serve you.
Also, try searching the site before posting — you’ll get an answer more quickly and are less likely to get ridiculed in public.
For instance, searching for “six sigma asia” will turn up this page https://www.isixsigma.com/library/content/c010204a.asp — see the “Who” section at the bottom for your answer.

If anyone claim that Telekom is practising six sigma, I will say they have spoilt six sigma to a shameful level.
Those companies in Malaysia really practising Six Sigma are like Seagate Penang and Motorola KL/Penang and GE Aero. While many other companies are just making news to say that they are also in the Six Sigma bandwagon.

Do you have any data to support, what you have just ‘agreed’ ?
Lets see, how six-sigma value is ingrained in you.
Monk0October 13, 2006 at 2:04 pm #144704FL,
Do you think, you are qualified enough to make ‘such’ a comment. Looks like you are jealous of something…..I could smell it …..YAK.
Monk0October 15, 2006 at 4:00 am #144794Hi Monk, I am not sure how to measure “qualification”, appreciate if you can advice how should I measure “Qualification”Anyway, I did a survey on quite a number of “World Class” electronics contract manufacturing. So, more or less I know the true situation of Six Sigma deployment in ECM. If you have the data, pls publish and prove me wrong. The way you post your comment on line, you “Prove” yourself uneducated…
