Hi, I’m Jonathan Martinez from Mexico.
I’d like to know is somebody knows a project or has ideas to apply a six sigma project in an Administrative Area like purchasing department. Usually I only read about projects in manufacturing process.
    Thanks ยกยก

Jonathan,There have been a ton of six sigma applications in administrative areas. Trend most recently is successfully integrating the information technology to support critical parameters for the administrative processes (previously not done very well).Recommend visiting Six Sigma consulting sites for examples, and Google “Six Sigma [well known company that practices six sigma, like ‘GE’]” to get some specific project examples.Good Luck!!

Purchasing is a great place to practice Lean and 6-sigma.ย  I know a colleague who found that when he mapped the purchasing function in his organisation he found that there were 80 separate steps with an 6 different handoffs between departments and up to 6 levels of approval.ย  Now tell me there’s no waste or variation in that process.
