    Hi,

I currently work as a Process Analyst in th UK and have 5 years experience in Systems Analysis & development. I would like to obtain ‘Six Sigma green belt’ certification from ASQ. However, my company does not follow Six Sigma, nor is there anyone who is a six sigma black belt in my company who can supervise me for projects. I have read that one can self-study for the SSGB certification exam. In that case, please could someone advice me on how I can do projects under the supervision of a SS Black belt as this is one of the pre-requisites for the CSSGB?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

From my point of view, even though the organization following the Six sigma concepts or not irrespective of it you can still work on any improvement area where you find there will be a scope for improvement for the organization and for your learning.

Once you have prepared some basic level concepts on the improvement area, you can very well discuss the same with your management authorities on your proposal for approval.

Based on their approval you can work and deliver the outcome which will be good for both you and your organization which you belongs to.

You can find mentors during your exercise either internally or externally (I feel that may not be an issue during the exercise)

    Just my opinion.

    All the best!!!

    With regards

    Hi,

1)Please select the critical process that has to be improved ( It can be identified through KPI reports or department needs)
2)Get the approval from process owner (who owns the process and can make changes)
3)Select the cross functional team members (who has technical knowledge in the processes)
    4) Define the process performance measures.

If you complete the above steps successfully, the rest to go smoothly. Measurement and analysis is our strength and it can be done by ourselves.

    all the best

Interesting post by @murugesanme I have not found it successful for a project leader to measure/analyze by themselves. The process and team members need to participate or else it won’t be believed.

Change is always tough and you need to bring them along.

@cseider , I agree with you, team members must involve untill control phase. If we get their support and co-operation 100%, rest of the our project becomes a lot easier, their support & help in measure and analyse will be a huge boost, infact they dedicate fully. Finally we all will succeed with the real implementation. otherwise, it is going to be once again the documented project.

Misha, I did this for a Black Belt qualification with a reputable UK provider who provided both the training and the required support, including reviews and answers to my questions as I progressed. You can self-study for the exam but it is the Project Delivery that will get you the qualification and you will need this validated by a reputable provider.
