Hi friends,I am doing a green belt project in attrition of new hires but i am not able to use the tools taught in training like sigma calculation,cp,cpk etc. My project guide saya that it is different project & he is unable to guide me. Could you please help me if you have any stuff related to this or similar project that could help me out.

I would first find a new guide as the one you have seems to be broken.

I’ve seen similar projects and had no issue with using the tools. I take it you have data on what the attrition rate is, can you break down by grade, department, job type, time to leave etc. This will then allow you to find if there’s any areas which are worse than others, is there a time it happens in etc.

This should then tell you where to look for the problems at which point you can use the soft GB tools to drill down and create a solution.

    Hi friends,

Thanks for your responses. I shared my project report with my guide & Business excellence team some days back . I had made some changes in current recruitment & orientation process of new hires which has yielded positive results but my guide & Business excellence reviewer told me that as you have not used green belt tools so we will disqualify your project.

Please help me how can i do this ?
I have data for reasons of attrition ,age mix of members & also grade wise attrition.I presented this data in simple tables & they rejected it saying it is not application of six sigma.

Your project guide is a moron. The first thing you need to establish is a problem statement. You have attrition, but what are you looking to address? Formulate a problem statement with the business process owner. Stop trying to fit a problem to the tools.

Problem statement is high attrition rate among new hires(people leaving within 90 days) of joining.

That’s not the problem statement – that’s an indicator of a problem. Problem statement might be “why are the folks hired not qualified for the position?” or “why are qualified people deciding not to stay with us?”
