Do you mean manufacturers of phamaceuticals such as Pfizer,
or do you mean pharmacies such as Walgreen Pharmacy.
Although I have not seen any specific articles on the latter, I
have given some thought to quality improvement to these
segments of the medical care system and can share some
    ideas and resources.

Our business group has several interactions with pharmaceutical companies and the Six Sigma methodology.  One example is work that significantly improved the droplet size for asthma aerosols and a significant improvement in the efficacy of the product.    Feel free to email me for further information about our work with pharm companies.

In the pharmaceutical sector, in spite of global growth in volume, market and profit, it is continuously recognized that due to stringent regulations and clinical trials low success ratio, the margin for the companies are decreasing and so a novel way to increase margin is the technique of Six Sigma. In India also, only few companies have paid attention to such a concept, but not fully implemented. By now, only few pharmaceutical companies have tried to adopt the concept of Six Sigma like: Valiant Pharmaceutical, Merck, Eli Lilly, Alpharma and Dr. Reddys
