Since your processes are similar, you may want to focus on the equipment, set-ups etc. You might find that solutions with one part may carry over (leverage) to anumber of similar products. It all depends where your CTQ’s lie in your processes. Don’t be deceived that Six Sigma only works for mass production. The principles and methods can be applied to any process.

I am looking for sugestion regarding the tool to use for controlling small production (i.e. 500 pieces per year).

The pieces follow a similar production process (welding, painting, ecc.) but belongs to different designs.

    Mike,

I agree with your points wholeheartedly. But Salvatore, you will also want to ensure that any projects selected have a significant impact on the company’s bottom line. If you don’t deliver financial results from your quality program — especially for a small company — it is much more noticable and can turn management off to the concept.

Make sure you understand the business needs and align with them.
