As a Six Sigma Black Belt @ an ABS brake plant , I joined Toyota and belive me there is a difference between chronic problems and sporadic. Toyota work very hard to eliminate the possibilities of chronic issues. Some of the tools in six sigma are used but not the entire concept- not needed. But let me tell you the difference between the american plant and Toyota. The heart beat remains the same under all conditions, good or bad- No panic. Safety and Quality is the key. I have struck Gold working for this company. Again it’s about the heart beat.

I am not suprised to hear that Toyota would embrace Six Sigma as a methodology. As a world class leader and inovator in Continuous Improvement I am glad to hear they are integrating Six Sigma with the Toyota Production System a.k.a. Lean. I must admit I envy you working for such an industry leader.0May 24, 2006 at 8:02 pm #138058

Deming said the only choice is 100% inspection or 0% inspection, and chose the latter because human inspection is unreliable.
