i am an engineering student of the third year…i am interested to know whether this SIX SIGMA practice is going to help me in my immediate future and whether it is useful for me to join a course regarding the same during the final year of my engineering.0January 13, 2010 at 6:32 pm #65365

You presently do not possess the technical nor business experience. It is unlikely that you have any experience in project work or change management. Once you have acquired that experience you may possibly be able to contribute to the industry. But, until then, focus on acquiring that experience and knowledge once you graduate and get a job that will provide the relevant experience and skill sets.

I will tell you that most academic environments do not do a good job of presenting statistics in a manner where their infinite utility to understanding the real world is essential. Instead they focus on dice and card games. When you can start to link the statistics to problems you are observing, and more importantly, explain to others how the system is behaving based on that statistical understanding, then you will be ready to take the step into the world of six sigma.
