    I am actually involved in TRIZ (innovation theory) and I would like to know whether some of you have experienced the deployment of TRIZ mixed with sixsigma methodology? What are the results of such experiments? other comments are welcomed.

    TRIZ is a methodology in itsel and not an apllication. So it is a part of the developpment of innovative process.
    triz has been used for the past 50 years in various fileds, and myself I used it to improve the printing quality for black and white printers by improvring the cleaning of the system. I have also used it to resolve the problem of unrollong-rolling non-woven sticky belts.

    can you send me your work on printing quality. i would love to see how you used it.
    there are physical and technical contradiction, 40 principles and 39 by 39 matrix of contradiction. i know it but i would love to see someone did work on that to make it useful.

    TRIZ has yet to be rocognized as a valid methodology.
    It is interesting but the tools leave a lot to be desired.

    I’m an MBB.  I’ve used Six Sigma for incremental fixes and TRIZ for the Inventive solution.  I have “0” Patents with Six Sigma and 16 filed, 7 issued Patents using TRIZ.  Recognized or not it works for me.

    TRIZ is way cool. If you are looking for the ‘holes’ in the Six Sigma methodology, I would say they lie in the inventiveness of the solutions. TRIZ bridges that gap. I have not been able to utilize it within SixSigma as much as it could be – it takes a while to explain.

    I am MBB, use TRIZ since students’ time and also teach TRIZ at the university and for industries since 1996 in Germany/Europe, have patents implemented as technical standards internationally. 
    To deny the power of TRIZ for process/product/ service/business improvement and/or for their development is the same as to ignore the use of statistics.
    So-called I-TRIZ is the most advanced research-based methodology and tools available, far ahead basic TRIZ of 1950s-80s. I start to embedd relevant I-TRIZ modules (evolutionary) into Six Sigma courses for champions, black and green belts which are relevant to their roles, tasks, background and fit into Six Sigma project management life cycle.
    It allows to significantly speed up Six Sigma projects both DMAIC and DFSS, avoid painful mistakes at the definition phase, reduce amount of measurements, and hence reduce rework and COPQ of Six Sigma methodology.
    It is especially efficient (and probably must) for forcast-based new business/product development, trouble shooting and failure detection and for know-how intensive business processes, like new design &development, intellectual property protection etc.
    It increases usability and acceptance of Six Sigma and act as a accelerator and catalyst for its deployment.
    I hope I may be able to come soon with some evaluation figures, at the moment only expert estimates are available.

    thank you for your response and offer. I’ve heard about your successes in applying TRIZ to Six Sigma already from independent industrial contacts, and I appreciate greatly any exchange and discussion with you. My email is [email protected]
    My scripts available which are not commercial are mostly in German. Now I am upgrading them (in English first) using
    * more advanced I-TRIZ methodology and tools
    * for specific Six Sigma User Categories
    * for different learning modalities (including advanced e-learning technologies like Web-Cast, Web-Mentoring, Web-Workshop, self e-learning)
    I will send you my publication about one of my established courses “Creativity & Usability Engineering”, where I’ve combined TRIZ basic concepts and tools with user-centered design&evaluation life cycle and methodology. Students have always fun during this course and it ends always with patents.
    I would appreciate greatly Yours and Others expert comments on the priorities for the mentioned above training modules, particularly regarding
    user groups-  I-TRIZ methods-  tools-  course modules (also duration)-training deployment strategy,
    based on your experiences where traditional Six Sigma is insufficient and /or inefficient.

    TRIZ is not 40 principles and matrix…. Even more. It is not TRIZ. It is part of history of TRIZ. Author of TRIZ Genrich Altshuller said in June 1986 during his 2 weeks training that he very sorry about 7 years he spent to develop Matrix of contradiction. In ARIZ of Altshuller you could not find reference to Matrix.
    TRIZ is something more then 40 principles. It is a science that give us background and direction to develop various efficient methods for problem solving. One of most important tools that is based on TRIZ science is ARIZ of Altshuller (ARIZ-85-C). But this is not the only tool of classical TRIZ. Todays we have several approaches based on TRIZ: Invention Machine approach, Ideation Approach, OTSM-TRIZ approach etc. All of them have TRIZ as a root but all of them are different enough.
