We have just started looking at Six Sigma in our company and have a lot of people currently undergoing blackbelt training. I am after some software that will allow the people being trained to keep track of the project that they are working on throughout the training.

Things like auto-emailing of management when phases are complete and that kind of thing.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for this?

I’ve been around a couple large companies that implemented Six Sigma (one sucessfully, the other not). In both cases, they were using either Access Databases that were homegrown or proprietary software packages that were homegrown. The easiest and probably best solution for your needs (if everyone is located on the same network) is to develop an Access database. It has the capabilities to email at tollgates like you were thinking. If you spec’d it, it could proabably be built by one person in one to two months and be really nice.

Hope it helps. Post if you want to know anything else about my trials and tribulations with tracking packages!

We are using an access database also. It’s just the easiest to create new reports or queries when needed — rather than paying a consultant 200 per hour!
