I haven’t read Monk’s post, so I don’t know if he mentioned the following:
My understanding is many software problems can arise due to memory leakage, not only in the managment of the application’s pointers, but also from other software runnning consurrently. Therefore, it is important to test software on a clean system, check leakage, and then install other software to check for any interference.
As you can see, this poses a number of logistic and testing problems, so it might make a good Six Sigma project.
Cheers,
Andy0November 6, 2006 at 5:42 pm #64528I think the first question is what data do you collect. For our testing area, we gather information on where the errors occurred, what test script, test wave, etc. This allows us to determine if we are finding more or less errrors in later test waves, are we finding reoccurring errors, what is our productivity in tested scripts, and even after the fact abends vs testing rigor.
We also look for leaning opportunities. There normally is a big time delay is restaging the test data for another round of testing, so we look opportunities to minimize outside set up time, vs inside set up, concurrent vs sequential work, etc.0November 7, 2006 at 6:04 am #64529

Take a look at the article listed on this website: https://www.isixsigma.com/library/content/c030106a.asp
It outlines a clear process for efficient SS style black box testing. There are also some good tools on the market that can automate the DOE for software testing process
Jayson0November 13, 2006 at 11:23 pm #64536You can use rdExpert software to get test plans automatically.
