    Howdy Statistical and Excel Wizards:

I’m trying to use a control chart on rare, large scale scrap events. It looks like there are two types of rare event charts:

    * T-chart measures the TIME elapsed since the last event and
    * G-chart counts the number of possible OPPORTUNITIES since the last event

I have SigmaXL, and they have a C chart for defects, that isn’t really what we need.

Do any of you know a formula to calculate rare events as a T (time) or G (Geometric) chart? If so, please type it in, or link me to the source. Thank you so much.

Well, after a massive, word wide web search, I managed to half answer my own question. The folks over at SPC for Excel posted an article on G Charts that included the formula. I’ll have to sort through and figure out what all the letters mean, but it’s doable. But hey, if you’re a wizard with this stuff, please feel free to share! :-)

Still looking for the formula for the T Chart.
