I will be the president of a human resource association in 2008. I am trying to identify speakers who can apply Six Sigma to human resources.

Alan, Good morning!Just about any Black Belt should be able to address the topic of Six Sigma as applied to Human Resources functions and processes. If there is a company in your area that uses Six Sigma, you may want to try calling in to the company — their Black Belts should be able to help, and their HR VP should be familiar with the topic, also.
    Best regards,

    Hi Alan-
I previously worked in the HR department and have transitioned into the Six Sigma department of a Fortune 500 company.  I have already done a presentation on applying Six Sigma to HR during a best practice sharing session with an outside HR department. I would be interested in discussing what you are looking for with the hr association you are heading up.

    Take care,
    Ben

As a former HR practitioner, you are fully aware the HR community has been working hard to gain credibility with top management. Top management wants to know what HR can bring to the table to better processes and save money. I have found that applying Six Sigma to HR is one way to improve efficiency and thus value to the organization. I am looking for speakers that can educate HR practitioners on how to be a strategic partner. Luncheon meeting and possibly workshop.

Dont forget to include the critical support role that HR plays in aligning the organizational effort toward total quality:

    Reward and recognition
    Train and educate
    Work group design
Assessing and addressing worker skill sets, job knowledge, health and safety, and morale
Incorporating HRM into TQ efforts is absolutely critical to success and rarely leveraged to the degree necessary.  Good luck.

Ah yes – I am all too familiar with the credibility crisis in HR, though I think it has been getting better as HR has become more capable in analytics.  Six Sigma still has only a negligible presence in most HR departments, but with the inclusion of more and more HR practitioners on Six Sigma projects, it is gaining a toehold.

Here is my insight into deploying SS in HR.
Every person that works for a company should ask the question – am I increasing revenue or decreasing cost ?
HR instead of focussing on the fluffy stuff needs to be alligned to increasing revenue or reducing cost also.  It means having proactive HR that makes the organizations human capital more effective.
That way HR could then be viewed less as an expensive overhead but more as a valued enabler of increased profit.
    Regards,
    Adam
